ELSS Tax-Saving SIP Calculator (Section 80C): inputs, method, and how to read the result
Compute ELSS SIP wealth creation alongside Section 80C tax savings (up to ₹1.5L/yr deduction) and 3-year rolling lock-in schedule.
Choose inputs for the case you are checking
The defaults are illustrative. Replace them with values for your case and keep the units shown beside each field.
- Monthly ELSS SIP Amount: ₹12,500/month equals the full ₹1,50,000/year Section 80C ceiling.
- Expected Annual ELSS Return: Expected annualized equity return.
- Investment Duration (Min 3 Years): Statutory ELSS lock-in is 3 years per installment.
- Income Tax Slab (Old Tax Regime): Marginal tax bracket used to calculate annual Section 80C tax savings.
What the calculation includes
With the default values shown, ELSS SIP Maturity Value is ₹29,04,238. The calculation follows Section 80C Tax Rebate & Rolling 36-Month Lock-In; the formula and variable definitions above show how the inputs combine.
One-input check: With the other defaults held constant, changing Monthly ELSS SIP Amount from 12,500 ₹ / mo to 13,750 ₹ / mo changes ELSS SIP Maturity Value from ₹29,04,238 to ₹31,94,662. This is a comparison inside the calculator's stated model, not a prediction.
Where to use caution
- Assumes taxpayer opts for the Old Tax Regime where Section 80C deductions are allowed and has no other 80C investments consuming the ₹1.5L limit.
- Each monthly ELSS SIP installment locks in for 36 months from its allotment date; all units cannot be redeemed on the 3rd anniversary of the first installment.
Scope: India (Income Tax Act Section 80C & SEBI ELSS Rules) Check the assumptions and limitations against your situation before relying on the estimate.
